Song of Praise in times of distress

When the enemy stand before me
You are there
When the storms of life surround me
You are there
When the trials of strife weigh heavy
You are there….

I call upon You, Lord
I call upon You, Lord
And I am saved
I call upon You, Lord
And …. I … am … saved!

You are worthy, Lord
You are worthy, Lord
You are worthy to be praised, Almighty God

You are my fortress,
You are my shield,
You are my comfort and my strength
You are worthy to be praised, Mighty God,

“I love You, O Lord , my strength.” The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord , who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies.
Psalms 18:1‭-‬3

You Can’t Have It Your Way. God Is Not Burger King

Picking and choosing the attributes of God that fit your lifestyle is a dangerous practice.

God isn’t a customizable coffee beverage or burger that you can make your way. You don’t get to pick only the attributes you like and leave behind the ones you don’t.

God is love and God is holy. God is merciful and God is just. He will forgive our sins and He will punish us for sin. You can’t have one attribute without the other.

Punishment is required for sin and a just God will hand down punishment.

But Jesus took our punishment on Himself. For those who believe in Jesus we are forgiven. Believe in Him and receive that forgiveness.

God’s just and holy nature means we can’t be with Him and have sin ruling in our life. Yet God’s love gave us Jesus to remediate the sin found in us.

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Heart Pounding Encounter

Have you taken a moment to ponder what Moses must have been feeling emotionally and physically during his encounter with God at the burning bush? This was his first encounter with God.

I know there are other more episodic encounters between the two, but this was Moses’ first time encountering God.

What a heart pounding experience this must have been.

This encounter changed Moses’ life forever.

Yet, Moses had to overcome his own fear of inadequacy before committing to his complete life change.

Surely his life would have changed simply by having contact with God’s spirit, but he had to get past his fears before accepting his role in the full plan God had for his life.

But once God gave a response to all of Moses’ weak excuses, Moses finally picked up his mantle and became all that he was purposed to be in God’s plan.

If a book where to be written about our lives, at what occasion would the readers find our weak excuses we give to God?

Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, ” I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.'” God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord , the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord , the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt.
