Pray for our Persecuted Brothers and Sisters #NationalDayOfPrayer @NatlPrayer

On this National Day of Prayer, remember to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters.

“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matt 5:10

Here are 10 specific ways you can pray today for members of our persecuted family (published by Voice of the Martyrs):

  • Pray they will sense God’s presence (Heb. 13:5)
  • Pray they will know we are praying for them (2 Tim. 1:3)
  • Pray they will experience God’s comfort (2 Thes. 2:16-17)
  • Pray they will see God open doors for evangelism (Col. 4:3)
  • Pray they will boldly share the gospel (Acts 4:29)
  • Pray they will mature in their faith (Col. 1:28-29)
  • Pray they will be granted wisdom in covert ministry work (Acts 9:23-25)
  • Pray they will remain joyful amid suffering (Acts 5:41)
  • Pray they will be able to forgive and love their persecutors (Matt 5:44)
  • Pray they will be deeply rooted in God’s Word (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Always Being Ready To Make A Defense

This morning pastor spoke on 1 Peter 3:13-16. It is a reminder that persecution should be expected and not a surprise.

Freedom of religion is such a blessing in my country and we must continue to defend that freedom, and give a defense and reason for the hope we have in Christ Jesus.

How are you preparing? When the time comes the Holy Spirit will give you the words you need. But I contend that the fear of not being prepared stops so many people from even being on the field. Rid yourself of the excuses and prepare.

At the same time we must also continue in prayer for our brothers and sisters in countries that do not allow them to worship freely or openly. This is how we fight our battles, with prayer and fasting.

Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled , but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.
1 Peter 3:13‭-‬16 NASB

Cold-Case Christianity is one of my favorite Apologetics studies.

Praise through the storm

As we go through life we will inevitably encounter times of uncertainty, even faith testing struggles. But we find our strength again when we praise and worship our God. Jesus is the object of our faith. Our faith is not in a building, denomination or anything created. Our faith is in the creator, the Lord God, the great “I Am”.

Revive us, Lord. Inhabit our praise. Holy Spirit move in us and strengthen our resolve to run the race with renewed vigor.

This song has most recently helped bring my heart and mind into a time of worship. I hope it helps you today.

Just Breathe, In The Midst of Trouble

I don’t open up much on my blog about what things tend to stress me out. So is the problem of every man. The pride that keeps us from opening up, hiding behind a mask of confidence, is how we display strength. Well, let me just go ahead and confess and list out what’s up with me right now.

What is troubling me?

  • Work politics
  • Project Deadlines
  • Family Obligations
  • Work Deliverables
  • Home Additions
  • College savings
  • All that other dad stuff

You may have noticed that this is just a list of what stresses everybody out. These are all old foes and known adversaries. And experience I’ve gained from past battles will guide me through.

What keeps me going?

  • Prayer
  • Faith
  • Love
  • God’s Word
  • Friends
  • and now Exercise, seriously, run your stress away

It’s amazing how you can melt your stress away with a long run or a good weight training session. But it’s a temporary relief.

What really helps is the knowledge that God loves me and will never forsake me.

Even if I mess up everything on my list. I know I’ll achieve everything on His list and the purpose He has for me.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Psalm 138:7-8

For David to write this Psalm, it could have been any number of issues that he faced in his life. But even if my issues are much smaller in comparison, You will revive me, O Lord, with Your lovingkindness.

I will be bold with strength in my soul.

On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.

Psalm 138:3
