Quarrelsome Disposition
Often times even people on the same team can have a season where every conversation or comment can spur a quarrelsome encounter.
Dinners are ruined, confidence and trust are injured and the cycle is hard to break.
Candor is required to pull the team or relationship out of this uncomfortable cycle. It is almost never a one-sided issue. And the solution has to be a win for all involved.
A candid conversation is needed and active listening by each party is required. From there, each party must recognize and participate in making the situation better. And forgiveness has to take place for past issues in order for this to work. Allow the other party to learn and grow and give positive feedback, but not in a spiteful way.
I’m not writing this blog post as someone who has perfected this. I am writing as a person who continues to try and get better at self-awareness and how I get into cycles of being over-critical and need to break out for the team.
