“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…” — Matthew 6:25a
Let me be real with you: worry is a silent thief. It creeps in at night when the house is quiet and your mind won’t shut off. It disguises itself as “responsibility” and “planning,” but deep down, it’s fear dressed up in a business suit.
Jesus knew we’d struggle with this. That’s why in Matthew 6:25–34, He looks us straight in the eyes, and I hear Him saying, “Stop. Don’t worry. Your Father knows.”
This isn’t some fluffy, feel-good message. It’s a call to courageous faith.
Jesus breaks it down:
Don’t worry about what you’ll eat or drink.
Don’t worry about your body or your clothes.
Look at the birds—God feeds them.
Consider the lilies—God clothes them.
Aren’t you worth more than they are?
He’s not saying be reckless or lazy. He’s saying, Stop playing God. You can’t control the future, but you can trust the One who holds it.
And that’s really the issue, isn’t it? Trust.
We say we believe God is our Provider. We post Bible verses. We wear the Christian t-shirts. But when our bank account dips, our health wavers, or our plans fall apart, we panic.
Faith isn’t just for Sunday mornings. It’s for the Tuesday layoffs. The Wednesday diagnosis. The Thursday deadline. The Friday bills.
Jesus closes this section with a command and a promise:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” (v. 33)
That’s not just a memory verse. That’s a strategy for mental, spiritual, and emotional peace. Put God first. Obey His voice. Prioritize His mission. And He’ll take care of the rest.
Is it easy? No.
Is it worth it? Always.
So today, brother or sister, stop chasing what the world is chasing. Stop borrowing tomorrow’s trouble when today already has enough of its own (v. 34). Fix your eyes on the King, and trust that your Father knows exactly what you need.
Let’s Practice It:
Start your day with prayer, not panic.
Make a list of your biggest worries, and surrender them to God one by one.
Remind yourself: “My Father knows what I need.”
Faith is not passive. It’s fierce. It stands firm when the winds of worry try to knock us over. Stand firm today. Trust God. He’s never let you down, and He’s not about to start now.
Stop Worrying, Start Trusting, Reflecting Matthew 6:25–34
