Caricature of Godliness

A caricature is “a picture, description, or imitation of a person or thing in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect.” (Google)

Such is the picture of what a Christian looks like when they have forgotten the power of the God they have said they serve.

A grotesque figure of what should be a beautiful portrait of a believer who serves a powerful and living God.

They are showing up to be religious on Sunday, but denying the power of God by the way they are living on Monday.

Don’t get me wrong, we all mess up. But there is an absolute difference between slipping up with a repentant heart and a total rejection of God’s power to punish your sin.

These characters who deny God’s power are ones to stay away from. Try to pull them from the fire if possible, but don’t let these fool you into believing false teachings.

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.”

2 Timothy 3:1‭-‬5 NASB

“But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.”

Jude 1:17‭-‬23 NASB

“They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.”
Titus 1:16 NASB
