There’s a trend going around called the Winter Arc.
The idea is simple: instead of coasting through the last few months of the year and waiting until January to get serious, you start now.
I like that.
Not because we need another internet challenge, but because there’s value in choosing a season of intentional discipline.
Winter makes it easy to slow down. The days get shorter, schedules fill up, the holidays arrive, and suddenly everything gets pushed to January.
But January doesn’t magically create discipline.
The habits you carry into the new year are being built right now.
For me, a Winter Arc looks pretty simple:
- Strength train three days a week
- Run three days a week
- Eat with intention
- Prioritize sleep and recovery
- Spend time in Scripture and prayer
- Read at least five pages a day
Five pages doesn’t sound like much, but over 90 days that’s around 450 pages.
Small disciplines add up.
And this is about more than fitness.
“Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.”
— 1 Timothy 4:7
That’s the bigger goal.
Train your body. Train your mind. Train your spirit.
You won’t do everything perfectly. You’ll miss workouts. You’ll have bad meals. You may miss a day of reading.
Just get back to it.
January 1 is coming either way.
The question is who you’ll be when it gets here.
Start now.
